What is MTG-Toolbox?
MTG-Toolbox is an initiative of the Music Technology Group (MTG) at Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF) in Barcelona.
Through this website, we share a variety of tools and resources developed by our research group, which focuses on music and audio technologies.
Our goal is to make our research outputs accessible to a broad audience, including musicians, producers, sound designers, and hobbyists.
We strive to present our work in a user-friendly way, enabling people to explore and use the technologies we develop with minimal technical barriers.
The tools available here are offered in different formats, including plugins, standalone applications, web apps, and Max/Pd externals.
What sort of resources can you find here?
The applications available here are a result of our research in various areas of sound and music technology, including but not limited to:
- Audio synthesis and generation
- Symbolic music processing and generation
- Audio effects and processing
- Digital instrument design
- Music information retrieval
In addition to delivering ready-to-use applications, we also aim to provide resources that help other researchers disseminate their work in a more accessible manner.
At what stage are these tools?
Some tools are fully developed, while others are in early or mid stages of development.
We share them in their current state to welcome feedback not only after completion, but also—ideally—during development.
Feedback, ideas, questions?
Each tool is maintained by a dedicated group of researchers, and you’ll find the relevant contact details on the individual project pages. We welcome your feedback, ideas, and questions—whether you’re a musician, sound designer, or researcher.
